Traditions

Learning Tree Farm sponsors two fund raising events each year. These events are fun filled ways to help the farm keep its costs low enough for school children to be able to visit and experience the hands-on learning programs. Please join us in these events.

Antiques Appraisal, 23 February 2008

The Antiques Appraisal Event for Learning Tree Farm takes place each year on a Saturday around the end of February or the first part of March. Inspired by the interest surrounding the Antiques Road Show we invite you to find out about the value of the dollhouse that your Mom used to play with, Aunt Martha's earrings, or that lace tablecloth that was a wedding gift to your grandparents.

The event features Dayton area appraisers such as: Larry Hyatt, whose specialty is dolls and toys, Ellen Branigan of Park Avenue Antiques, whose specialty is china, glass, and silver; Gloria Phillips whose specialty is antique jewelry along with primitives and general antiques and Frank Miller of Mill-Cliff Books whose specialty is books and paper.

Doughnuts, sandwiches, snacks and beverages are sold throughout the day. There is a raffle drawing at 2:30 pm. Admission is free and open to public. A fee of $5.00 per item, 3 items for $10.00 is charged for each appraisal item. Proceeds from the event will benefit children's programs at Learning Tree Farm.
